Thank you to everyone that came out to the limited run of ‘Suddenly Last Summer’ by Tennessee Williams presented at Sorry Studios and helped us sell out 5 out of 6 performances! We are so proud of Lindsey Middleton for garnering a Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding Performance by an Individual for her role of Catharine in ‘Suddenly Last Summer’. Lindsey is an absolute powerhouse performer, an incredible producer and theatre maker, and we can’t wait for the next chance we get to work with her again!
Named one of Williams’ most poetic plays, ‘Suddenly Last Summer’ is a strange and unnerving Southern Gothic play that explores mental health, repressed desires, and the lengths a dysfunctional family will go to keep dark secrets hidden. Williams’ play uncovers the frightening and disturbing realities that can hide behind what is seemingly beautiful.
Under the direction of Kathleen Welch, Suddenly Last Summer featured an incredible ensemble cast featuring Lindsey Middleton, Elaine Lindo, Ryan Iwanicki, Carling Tedesco, Brendan Kinnon, Jobina Sitoh, and Shadan Rahbari.
For Opening Night “Carnivorous Garden Party” we sold bouquets and floral arrangements by independent floral designer Audrey Clairman, drinks from local breweries, and visual art from local artisans like Ellyn O’Keefe, Claire Browne, and Cat Stambolic.
Our visual artist market was presented throughout the entire run and we were so happy to create space for our community to grab a drink and check out the displays!

visual artist showcase
As part of our presentation of “Suddenly Last Summer”, we showcased three unique artists in the lobby of our studio throughout the entire run. Each of these artist’s work intersect with the nature in some way and we hope that their work inspired our audience to think about the natural world and carry those themes into their experience of the play. Each of their work was available for sale (and continues to be) so if you’ve been looking for something to fill that blank wall or a new tote bag to carry all your trinkets then give them a follow on social media and reach out!
cat stambolic
Caterina Stambolic is an Award-winning mixed media artist based in Toronto, Canada. Her work has been featured twice at the Ontario Place Winter Light Exhibition, at the Toronto Outdoor Art fair, and in more than 40 shows.
Finding Forests draws inspiration from contemplative walks in the late winter and early spring, and strives to uncover the beauty of nature inherent in every moment. It is all too easy to lose sight of the joy and wonder surrounding us, forgetting the potential for change and opportunity that awaits at every turn.
Claire Browne
Claire Browne (she/her) is a multi-disciplinary visual artist and mural artist living and working in Toronto. She graduated from OCAD University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Fine Art degree. Her artwork features a focus on the botanical world, tropical spaces and the Black diaspora. Claire Browne has exhibited extensively in group shows in the Greater Toronto Area. Her work has been acquired as part of Scotiabank’s private art collection.
Ellyn O’Keefe
Ellyn O’Keefe is an illustrator and textile artist based in Toronto. Starting in 2016, she started Nutty’s Nook, a small business selling her embroidery. From that, she has expanded into making bags, garlands, Christmas ornaments, and really anything to do with fabric. Nutty’s Nook is named after her grandmother, and much of Ellyn’s work is inspired by visiting her grandmother while growing up. Her pieces are made from vintage and recycled fabric, and are bright and whimsical with touches of humour throughout.
