Join us at our favourite community hub, The Theatre Centre, and be transported back to late 1950’s New York City. RED follows Mark Rothko at the height of his career and his youthful new assistant, Ken. Set in the 1950s, and based on a series of real events, we witness Rothko struggling through the creation of a series of large paintings intended for New York’s brand-new Four Seasons Restaurant. As Ken and Rothko paint, they challenge each other to ask big questions about art, life and what it means to be human.

The show opens on March 27th and runs until April 5th. Performances will be held at The Theatre Centre (1115 Queen Street W) Incubator Space and will begin at 7:30PM. The closest major intersection is Queen W and Ossington Ave, and is accessible by streetcar and bus. Drinks are available at the Theatre Centre Cafe and are permitted in the theatre. Arrive early to experience works by local artists hung in the lobby space, and participate in creating your own work of ‘red’ visual art!
